What Is Past Life Regression?
Past life regression is a practice that accesses memories, impressions, and narratives that feel as though they belong to a previous lifetime. Whether conducted as a therapeutic technique using hypnosis, as a spiritual practice through guided meditation, or as information that surfaces spontaneously in a reading — the experience is remarkably consistent: you encounter a version of yourself that exists in a different body, a different time, a different set of circumstances — and it feels real.
Not metaphorically real. Experientially real. The emotions are immediate. The sensory details are vivid. The connections to your current life are often obvious and startling. And the release that comes from witnessing these experiences — from understanding how a past life pattern is playing out in your present — can be profound.
In my practice, past life information comes through in readings — your spirit guides show me relevant past lives as part of the larger picture they're presenting about your soul's journey. I don't do formal hypnotic regression. What I offer is the information your guides want you to have, delivered in the context of a conversation about your current life. And what I've found is that past life material surfaces when it's relevant — when the pattern from that lifetime is actively affecting your choices, relationships, or blocks right now.
Past lives don't explain everything. But sometimes they explain the one thing that nothing else can.
Past Life Regression Therapy vs Spiritual Experience
Past life regression exists at the intersection of two worlds: clinical therapy and spiritual practice. Understanding the difference helps you choose the right approach for your needs.
Therapeutic Regression
Past life regression therapy, pioneered by practitioners like Brian Weiss and Michael Newton, uses hypnotic induction to guide clients into a deeply relaxed state where past life memories can surface. The therapist facilitates the experience without directing its content, helping the client explore the narrative, feel the associated emotions, and draw connections to current-life issues. The framework is therapeutic: the goal is healing and insight, regardless of whether the past lives are 'literally' real.
Spiritual Regression
In spiritual contexts, past life information may come through meditation, spontaneous visions, dreams, or — as in my work — through psychic and mediumship sessions where spirit guides present past life material. The framework here is explicitly spiritual: the soul has lived before, carries wisdom and wounds from those lifetimes, and benefits from conscious engagement with that history.
Both approaches produce genuine results. The therapeutic model may appeal to people who want a structured, clinical setting. The spiritual model appeals to people who are already on a path and want past life information integrated into their broader spiritual understanding. Neither is more valid than the other.
How Past Life Regression Works
The mechanism of past life regression — how it actually works — depends on which framework you use. And the honest answer is: we don't fully know. But here are the leading explanations, each with strengths and limitations.
The Spiritual Model
The soul reincarnates across multiple lifetimes, carrying memories, karmic patterns, and unresolved experiences. Regression accesses these literal memories stored in the soul's record (what some traditions call the Akashic records). This is the model most practitioners and clients intuitively connect with — and it's the one I work from.
The Psychological Model
The unconscious mind generates symbolic narratives that represent current-life issues in metaphorical form. The 'past lives' aren't memories but creative constructions of the deep psyche, produced in the same way dreams are produced — using symbolic language to communicate truths that the conscious mind can't access directly. This model doesn't require belief in reincarnation and still produces therapeutic results.
The Genetic/Ancestral Memory Model
Some researchers have proposed that memories of previous generations can be transmitted through epigenetic mechanisms — that the experiences of your ancestors are encoded in your biology and can surface as 'past life memories' under certain conditions. This is speculative but intriguing, particularly in light of growing research on intergenerational trauma.
In practice, the framework matters less than the experience. Whatever the mechanism, the information that surfaces is consistently relevant, emotionally genuine, and often therapeutically powerful. I've watched clients release decades of unexplained grief, terror, and relational patterns in a single session after encountering a past life that made everything click.

In my sessions, past life information comes through your spirit guides — they show me the lifetimes that are most relevant to what you're currently working through. I don't use hypnosis. I receive the information clairvoyantly and share it with you in real time.
What typically happens is this: during a Full Download session, your guides will present one to three past lives. Each one relates directly to a current-life pattern — a relationship dynamic, a fear, a block, a gift that you haven't fully claimed. I describe what I see: the setting, the relationships, the key events, and the emotional through-line. Your job is to listen and notice what resonates.
The resonance is the key. When past life information is relevant, you feel it in your body — a shock of recognition, a rush of emotion, a sudden understanding that reframes something you've struggled with for years. You don't need to 'believe' in past lives for this to happen. The body knows.
I've had clients sob upon hearing about a past life they had no conscious knowledge of — not because the information was sad, but because the recognition was so complete. The pattern they'd been repeating suddenly had a context. The fear that made no sense in this lifetime made perfect sense in another one.
Signs You May Have Past Life Connections
1. Intense, immediate connection to someone you've just met.
2. Fears or phobias with no origin in your current life.
3. Recurring dreams set in unfamiliar times or places.
4. Unexplained affinity for a specific culture, time period, or place.
5. Physical marks or chronic conditions with no medical explanation.
6. Relationship patterns that repeat despite your best efforts.
Past Lives and Spirit Guides
Your spirit guides have been with you across lifetimes. They know your soul's history because they've witnessed it — or in some cases, because they lived alongside you in previous incarnations. This is one of the most powerful aspects of a spirit guide reading: your guides can show you past life material with a precision and relevance that no regression technique can match, because they know both the past and the present.
In my experience, guides present past life information when you're ready to use it — not before. They don't overwhelm you with lifetime after lifetime. They show you the one that matters right now, the one whose pattern is most actively affecting your current choices. This is strategic, not random. Your guides are teachers, not entertainers.
I've also found that guides sometimes use past life information to explain a current-life gift or calling. A client who's drawn to healing work may have been a healer in multiple past lives. A client with natural clairvoyant abilities may have developed those abilities over centuries. Understanding this context doesn't just explain the gift — it gives the person permission to fully claim it.
Past Lives and Relationships
Past life connections in relationships are some of the most intense — and most confusing — experiences people report. The immediate recognition, the unexplainable intensity, the sense that you've known someone for centuries even though you met them last Tuesday.
In my readings, relationship dynamics that have past life roots are among the most common themes. A client who can't leave a toxic relationship may discover that the dynamic is centuries old — that the pattern of power, control, or sacrifice has been playing out across multiple lifetimes. Understanding this doesn't automatically resolve the pattern, but it gives the person a vantage point they didn't have before.
Not every intense connection is a past life connection. And not every past life connection is meant to last in this lifetime. Some people come into your life to complete something that started in another incarnation — and once it's complete, they leave. Trying to force these connections to last longer than their purpose is one of the most common sources of suffering in spiritual relationships.
The healthiest approach to past life relationships is to hold the connection with reverence without clinging to it. Honour the history. Learn what the pattern is teaching you. And let the relationship be what it is in this lifetime — not what it was in a previous one.
Addressing Skepticism Honestly
If you're sceptical about past lives, I respect that. Scepticism, when it's genuine — rather than dismissive — is a healthy orientation. And I'd rather work with a thoughtful sceptic than a credulous believer, because sceptics actually evaluate the evidence.
Here's what I can offer: I can't prove that past lives exist. No one can. What I can tell you is that in hundreds of sessions, the past life information that comes through is consistently specific, emotionally resonant, and practically useful. Clients who've never studied history receive detailed information about time periods, places, and cultural practices that they later verify. Patterns that defied every other explanation suddenly make sense.
I'm not asking you to believe. I'm asking you to consider the possibility — and to evaluate the experience on its own terms. If past life information produces genuine insight, real emotional release, and practical guidance for your current life, does the metaphysical question of whether it's 'literally' real change its value?
The honest answer is: the experience is real. The interpretation is open. And the results speak for themselves.

Integration After Past Life Regression
The past life experience is the beginning, not the end. What matters most is how you integrate the information into your current life. Here's how:
Journal about it. Write down everything you remember — the images, the emotions, the connections to your current life. Writing makes the unconscious conscious. It also helps you track patterns over time.
Look for the pattern. What is this past life showing you about a current-life dynamic? A relationship pattern? A fear? A gift? The past life is relevant because it's connected to something happening now. Find the connection.
Make a conscious choice. Once you see the pattern, you have a choice: continue it or change it. This is the power of past life work — it makes unconscious patterns conscious, and consciousness creates choice.
Combine with shadow work. Past life patterns often connect to shadow material — the parts of yourself you've denied, suppressed, or hidden. Integrating past life insights with shadow work creates the deepest and most lasting transformation.
Be patient. Past life information can take weeks or months to fully integrate. You may have dreams, spontaneous insights, or emotional releases in the days following a session. Let the process unfold at its own pace.
